About me

Welcome to the BetterHelp community! My name is Jocelyn Pettenato and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in New York and Connecticut. I have been providing psychotherapy for a wide variety of issues and populations for over 10 years. Throughout my career, I have supported individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma/abuse, sleep issues, relationship stress, confidence/self esteem issues, and difficulties navigating various life transitions. My therapeutic approach is rooted in creating a client-centered and collaborative environment where we can work together to find effective solutions. I believe in the importance of building a strong and safe therapeutic relationship that acknowledges the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and soul. My primary aim is to support you in your journey to heal from past experiences, enhance your present well-being, and approach future changes and challenges with a new and empowering perspective on life. My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in psychology and a master’s degree in clinical social work. To further enhance my skills and provide comprehensive care, I have pursued extensive training and certifications in several evidence-based therapeutic modalities. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). I have also undertaken training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) for work with couples and families. I believe this diverse training allows me to tailor my approach to meet your unique needs and goals. I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective therapy to help you achieve lasting positive change.
