About me

Hey There! My name is Kelsey and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. I have 10 years of experience as a fully licensed clinician and have spent majority of my training in the hospital setting. I also have extensive training working with families. I have experience with inpatient psychiatric units but my speciality lies with medically complex patients. I particularly enjoy helping families cope with life changes, individuals needing support with anxiety/depression, grief, and relationship issues. I have experience with developmental disabilities and moderate to high functioning autism. In therapy, I take a solution focused approach and utilize Cognitive Behavioral strategies. This means I will help you set goals, build insight, and encourage you to try new things. Therapy is a unique and important experience for everyone and its sometimes the only time we have to ourselves. I feel that as a therapist it is important that you feel like you have a good understanding of my personality and style. I think this helps eliminate some confusion especially when we are chatting. I am pretty laidback but as you know my job is to help you so I may push you at times. I appreciate feedback and always want to know what your comfort level is with anything we try. I like to use activities in my therapy sessions and these may include homework, reading an article/book, or trying out a new coping skill. I believe that sometimes you have to try a few things before it sticks so this process will absolutely need collaboration. Some days you may not feel like trying something new and that’s okay! This time together is for you and I want you to feel like you have control over it. I will ask you more questions in the beginning so I can get a better sense of where you are at and what would be most helpful. If you ever feel like something in our sessions isn’t going well or if you decide I’m not a good fit for you, I will not be offended! Sometimes it might take a few tries to find your person. I can’t wait to get started.
