About me

Are you feeling lost, fearful, uncertain about your life, and don’t know how to begin to make changes? Are there obstacles that just seem too huge to tackle, and you simply don’t have the motivation or energy to take that first step. Whether it be a relationship issue or a personal struggle, the strain of it all can be overwhelming and can cause a mix of emotions…loneliness, sadness, grief, anger, anxiety, depression. It may feel as if your life is spiraling out of control, and you feel paralyzed to do anything about it. All you want is to find a sense of peace and a moment to catch your breath. You have the ability to reinvent yourself, endlessly. It isn’t too late. Your life is here and now. If you have found yourself at this site, you must be going through something pretty tough and are looking for a solution. Let me help you. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. I have over 20 years of experience providing psychotherapy to adults of all ages. I graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a Master of Social Work degree, specializing in Adult Mental Health and Psychopathology. I am Board Certified in the state of North Carolina as an LCSW (License #C002591), am a member of the NASW, the American Psychotherapy Association, and am certified in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy. My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative and flexible. While my primary orientation is psychodynamic, or insight-oriented, I am comfortable working in a more structured way to address immediate and specific goals. I have significant experience working with clients who exhibit serious mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma issues. I also work with clients going through such issues as divorce, grief and loss, retirement adjustment, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. I pride myself on being real and down to earth, and you can trust I am not judging, shaming, or trying to control you in any way. My hope for you is that you can feel better and overcome the concerns you have. I can help you find the path to building stronger, healthier relationships, work through past hurts and traumas, grow to love and accept yourself, improve your self-confidence, and learn how to truly care for your beautiful unique self. There comes a time when most of us need some guidance to help cope with life’s challenges. Let me help you on your journey.
