About me

Joy has been working in the mental health field since 2005. She earned her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling (MAPC) and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (BA) from Ottawa University, along with two Certification of Advanced Degrees in Clinical Counseling and Trauma, Abuse and Deprivation (CAGS). She has credentials from the National Board of Certified Counselors as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH). Joy is independently licensed in the state of Florida (LMHC-#9977) and Arizona (LPC-#13114). Joy has experience and training in different therapy modalities of cognitive behavioral therapy, brief solution-focused therapy, TIR, along with EMDR. Joy works with adolescents and adults, including individuals, groups, and couples. She assists clients who want to cope better with stress, anxiety, depression, and have healthier relationships with themselves and others. She has worked with spiritual issues, self-empowerment, and self-esteem, as well as personal growth, transitions, and life changes. Joy specializes in the treatment and healing of trauma and abuse, as well as PTSD utilizing trauma reducing therapies. Joy has worked with all different cultural backgrounds, spiritual beliefs, and populations, including military, military families, adolescents, homeless, veterans, seriously mentally ill, women, and anyone who is interested in personal growth, healing and empowerment. She has taught classes, workshops, facilitated groups, and made presentations. Joy is strength-based and believes that when there is choice and power of emotion behind that choice, change will happen. She will help you feel comfortable and give you a safe space in which to share.
