About me

Welcome! First of all let me say congratulations on taking the next step to making you a better version of yourself. Therapy or counseling often come with a negative stigma in today’s society but I feel it is an important and useful tool for all people. My name is Melissa Wilson and I am a Licensed Practicing Counselor in the state of South Carolina. I have been in practice for 15 years and have worked with people from all walks of life. Before going into private practice I worked in a mental health facility and worked with addictions, trauma, coping skills, with adults, teens and children. Recently my practice has focused on adults working on coping skills, mindfulness training, gender identity, and other concerns that arise. While these theories are prominent in my practice I believe that everyone is an individual and should be treated as such. While I tend to center my practice around person centered therapy, CBT and mindfulness training, I meet each client where they are that day. I am a member in good standing of the ACA. I am an active member in the autism community in my area and have worked with many parents through parent trainings and teaching them how best to cope with certain behaviors. I have also worked with staff members to avoid burnout and promote self care.
