I am a licensed counselor in RI with a little more than 15 years of experience in the field. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults. Many of the children and adolescents with whom I have worked were involved in the child welfare system at one point in their lives- either currently in foster care or were in foster care and now is adopted. Therefore, I have a lot of experience working with issues such as grief and loss, and trauma such as having experienced neglect and/or abuse.Some of the adults I have worked with were in treatment for substance abuse. Other issues I have a lot of experience in is anxiety and stress, PTSD, ADHD, and ODD. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don’t believe in stigmatizing labels. I believe that the client is the expert in their lives and with support and guidance and empowerment, is capable of making any changes he or she desires. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma- focused. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change.
