About me

I am licensed in New York with 13 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, addiction, life changes, issues with body image and weight loss, trauma and abuse, motivation, self esteem, and confidence. My therapeutic style is fairly laid back and more personable while upholding professional guidelines and practices. My approach often, but not always, includes relating back to childhood roles and family dynamics as a way to help individuals understand how those things sometimes inform how one views themselves and informs choices one makes. At times, I will focus on patterns in a persons life in an effort to find the common denominator. I do not help answer “why” questions….but I do help answer “how” questions. “Why” questions are accusatory but “how” questions are inquisitive. For example, asking yourself, “Why did I do that when I knew it was going to be bad for me?” Only serves to accuse you of doing something wrong. Asking yourself, “How did I manage to convince myself to do that when I knew it was going to be bad for me” is a great way to explore all the things that informed your decision. When we know how we did something, we can then figure out how to do things differently. No matter what, I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking this first step to sign up for therapy takes courage and I am proud of you for getting started!
