Dr. Derek Hopson (Psychologist)

As a clinical psychologist with many years of experience, I have worked in a wide variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospital, outpatient clinic, and private practice in Connecticut and currently Florida. I have provided psychotherapy and counseling from young adults to elderly populations. My treatment modalities are individual, family, couples, and group therapy. In terms of treatment methods, my primary approaches are humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, rational-emotive, and solution-focused. The range of problems and concerns I work with include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting and family problems, substance abuse and addiction, emotional trauma, and aging. My therapy style is sensitive, caring, compassionate, open, engaging, and respectful. I listen closely to ensure the services I provide are tailored to the unique needs and life experiences of my clients. I am particularly sensitive to cultural background and how it contributes to a person’s beliefs and lifestyle. I am committed to supporting each of my clients as they courageously seek to resolve problems that prevent them from reaching a more productive, fulfilling and overall happier life.
